Dawson Landscaping grew from a lifelong appreciation for the unique landscapes of Western Australia.
Growing up in the Perth Hills, I was surrounded by native bushland and the incredible diversity of plants and wildlife that make Western Australia so distinctive. From the smallest native groundcovers to the trees that shape the landscape, I have always been fascinated by how different species grow, adapt and interact with one another.
That appreciation has carried through into the way I approach landscaping today. I believe a great outdoor space should feel connected to its surroundings, while still being designed around the way you want to live and use it.
From bonsai to landscape design
My interest in plants eventually led me to another passion — bonsai.
There is something about bonsai that I have always enjoyed: taking the time to understand a plant, working with its natural characteristics and carefully shaping it over time. It taught me to appreciate the finer details of plants, from their structure and growth habits to the way they respond to their environment.
That passion was a big part of what eventually led me towards landscaping.
Today, I bring that same attention to detail into the gardens I create. Whether it is choosing the right plants, considering how a space will mature over time, or creating balance between planting, hardscape and the surrounding environment, I want every part of a garden to feel considered.
Even the Dawson Landscaping logo reflects where it all started — with the bonsai tree representing the connection between my passion for plants and the landscapes I create today.
Creating outdoor spaces with character
For me, landscaping is about more than simply putting plants and materials into a space. It is about understanding the site, working with the Western Australian climate and creating an outdoor environment that becomes better as it grows.
Whether it is a complete landscape transformation, a thoughtfully designed garden or simply bringing a neglected outdoor space back to life, my goal is to create gardens that are practical, natural and built to be enjoyed for years to come.
